Some Great Tips For Playing Craps
Description: You can make the exciting game of real money Craps just a bit better if you follow some simple tips. These tips should teach you how to spot the better odds and give yourself the best shot at making some money. Now that you can play Craps online, it is easier to experiment with different methods of playing and follow some tips that will work in your favor.
Tip #1 - Know the Real Probabilities
The biggest mistake that many Craps players make is that they forget that every roll of the dice is a statistically independent event. Someone might think that if an eleven has not come up in the last twenty-rolls, the odds are very high that it will come up soon. Actually, the odds are the same for every roll of the dice. The outcome has no connection with what was rolled previously or what will be rolled in the future. Bet based on the actual odds, not the perceived expectations.
Tip #2 - Place an Odds Bet
In Craps, you can place an additional wager behind the pass line known as an odds bet. This bet simply increases the amount you win if you win your Pass line bet, based on the point. If the point is a 4 or a 10, you can win 2 to 1 for every dollar bet. That means you get double your money, plus your original bet back. If the point is a 5 or 9, the odds become 3 to 2 ($3 for ever $2 bet). Finally, with a 6 or 8, the odds bet will give you a 5 to 6 payout. There is no House edge in the Odds bet so there is no reason not to place it.
Tip #3 - Try the Don't Pass Line bet
After the odds bet, the next best bet is the Don't Pass bet. When you bet Don't Pass, you are actually betting on the shooter to lose. If the shooter rolls "craps" (a two, three, or twelve) on the first roll, he loses, but you win. If the shooter sets a point and then hits seven before hitting the point, you also win. Since games are always slightly favored to the casino, you can use this to your advantage and bet with the House.
Tip #4 - Bet on a Long Shot Every Now and Then
Every now and then, you should try and wager on an outcome that is considered a long shot. At any time, you can bet on a single number during a single roll. One favorite is the "Yo" bet. Yo means eleven and there are two possible rolls that will add up to eleven. You need one die to be a five and one to be six. (as long as you have one of each, it doesn't matter which die has which number). If you bet Yo and win, you win fifteen times the money you bet. You only have to hit this a couple times to be way ahead, no matter what else happens.
