The best odds when playing real money craps are when you bet with the House. That means when the shooter wins, you lose. When the shooter loses, you win. How to Bet on "Losing Numbers"
When you bet "Don't Pass (also called "Don't Come"), you are betting that the shooter will lose. That means that you are hoping the shooter will roll a 2, 3 or 12 on the first roll. Otherwise, you can win if the shooter rolls a seven before hitting the point number set in the Come Out roll. Since, the odds are slightly higher to win this way than betting normally, you might ask why more people don't bet Don't Pass.

The reason more players don't bet against the shooter is that it is an unwritten rule of casinos not to do so. It is considered bad manners to bet for someone to lose. Since there always needs to be a shooter, someone always needs to lose for you to win if you bet Don't Pass. In a casino, you will get sneers and rude remarks if you bet this way. It doesn't matter where you gamble - Atlantic City, Vegas, etc. Everywhere that there is an actual Craps table, you will get nasty looks for betting against the shooter.
