The "Don't Come" Bet
To play real money craps, you should first learn the Pass Line bet. Then you can learn the Come bet, and then the Don't Come bet.
Learn the Pass Line Bet to Understand the Come Bet
To understand the don't come bet, first you have to understand the pass line bet, and then you have to learn the come bet. These are easy to learn and essential to understand the genius of the don't come bet. The goal of the pass line bet is for the shooter to set and then make a point. The point is set on the first roll. Whatever number the two dice add up to is the point (except a 2, 3, 7, 11, or 12). If the first roll is a 7 or 11, everyone with bets on pass line wins instantly. If a 2, 3, or 12 is rolled, everyone loses instantly. Otherwise, the shooter continues rolling until either the point comes up again or a seven is rolled. When the point comes up again, everyone with a bet on pass line wins. When a seven comes up, everyone loses.
Learn the Come Bet to Understand the Don't Come Bet
After the shooter sets a point and starts rolling to try and hit that point again before a seven comes up, you can place what is called a come bet. The next roll functions as your own personal come out roll. If a seven is rolled, you win. If a point is set, then you will win if that point is rolled again, and lose if a seven is rolled. Whether the shooter makes his or her point is not relevant to you when you place a come bet.
Finally: The Don't Come Bet
The don't come bet functions opposite from the come bet. Like with the come bet, you place the don't come bet after the action has started. After you place your don't come bet, the next roll is your private come out roll. However, this time if the next roll is a 2, 3, or 12, you win. If the next roll is a 7 or 11, you lose. If the next roll is anything else, that number becomes your point. With don't come, you now win only if a seven is rolled before your point comes up. If you win with a don't come bet, you win even money. That means you win your original bet plus an amount equal to your original bet. You can then pocket the money you came with and play with the House's money.
